# Sol licensing

## Author and scope

Copyright (c) 2026 Tsogtgerel Gantumur for the Sol collection and its newly
published author-owned material. Earlier dates in individual tools are preserved.
The same author may appear as **Ts. Gantumur** or **Gantumur** in compact interfaces;
older notices also used the account name `gantemur` or `Tsogt Gantumur`.

The author approved MIT licensing of his existing Sol code and ordinary accompanying
documentation on 5 November 2026. The standard [MIT License](LICENSE) applies to
that material. It permits reuse, modification and commercial redistribution subject
to retaining its copyright and permission notice. The software is supplied as is.
For an uncluttered interface, copyright and licensing are stated once on the
[Sol homepage](./), rather than repeated inside each tool or on every tool card.
Unless otherwise stated in the accompanying files, Sol's author-owned code and
ordinary documentation use MIT, even when the interface has no visible notice.
Tool-local LICENSE files, copyright headers, credits and explicit exceptions remain
part of each package and must not be removed just to simplify its interface.
The homepage statement adds no visible-credit requirement to MIT.

**This grant does not relicense someone else's code, text, data or other assets.**
The planetary tools contain legacy material with unresolved upstream permissions;
they must not be described or redistributed as wholly MIT-cleared packages.

## Per-tool scope

| Tool | License and scope |
| --- | --- |
| [Armatur](armatur/) | [MIT](armatur/LICENSE); includes the corrected [standalone legacy version](armatur/legacy/LICENSE). Copyright years 2020, 2026 retained. |
| [Doppler](doppler/) | [MIT](doppler/LICENSE) for the author's current code and documentation. Previous GPL release history is retained in its [notice](doppler/NOTICE.md). |
| [Kinetic](kinetic/) | [MIT](kinetic/LICENSE); original 2023 copyright retained alongside 2026 updates. |
| [Rainbow angles](rainbow-angle/) | [MIT](rainbow-angle/LICENSE), under the author's explicit grant for the current tool and his notebook-derived contributions. |
| [Stellar warmth](warm/) | [MIT](warm/LICENSE), under the author's explicit grant for the current tool and his notebook-derived contributions. |
| [Sundial](sundial/) | [MIT](sundial/LICENSE). |
| [Prayer wheel](khurd/) | [MIT](khurd/LICENSE) for the code and documentation. The bundled Tibetan font subset is third-party: Noto Serif Tibetan, [SIL Open Font License 1.1](khurd/fonts/OFL.txt). |
| [Planetary models — English](planets-en/) | MIT for Gantumur's own contributions only; [upstream legacy scope and unresolved permissions](planets-en/LICENSING.md). |
| [Planetary models — Mongolian](planets-mn/) | MIT for Gantumur's own contributions only; [upstream legacy scope and unresolved permissions](planets-mn/LICENSING.md). |

Each tool carries a local license; keep its README and any licensing/third-party
notices with it when extracting the folder. A tool's specific scope or retained
third-party notice takes precedence over a blanket assumption about this repository.
The `license: null` registry entries intentionally signal unresolved whole-package
licensing, not permission to ignore the notices.

## Previous releases and other repositories

This release does not revoke permissions already given with older GPL or MIT
releases, rewrite old Git revisions, or change the licenses of separate repositories
such as `spectrum`, `numbers`, `doppler`, `armatur` or Sound Lab. A Python-to-JavaScript
port alone is not the basis for this MIT grant: the owner's explicit authorization is.

Private planning records are not included in the public license. Third-party credits
are preserved in [Credits](docs/CREDITS.md) and tool-local notices. No additional
rights to externally linked material are promised.

## Generated results

Using the tools does not by itself require a visible attribution on numerical results
or user-generated patterns. This does not grant rights to third-party content that a
user supplies or incorporates. Specific export notes in individual tools still apply.
